Cardiovascular fitness exercises help to strengthen your heart which is a muscle. If done correctly they can make your heart beat slower and stronger and lower your blood pressure as well as your cholesterol.
If you exercise to much to soon you can “overload” your heart muscle, just like you can “overload” any muscle in your body. Start slow and build up the length of time that you exercise whatever you do; walking, running, or use an exercise machine (like the Nordic Track).
It is best to discuss your exercise plan with your physician first, especially if you have any health problems.
