I have been walking 2.5 miles every other day, doing cardio and thigh slimming workouts. Am I simply overdoing it or is this all part of fitness training..
Cutrightmr: I really believe it IS the thigh slimming workout. Because my legs hurt from the upper thighs to my knees. When I suggested this to a friend, he said, “Walking 2.5 miles was the reason)

You might be over doing it if you can’t even walk after exercising. A little soreness is okay but if you are having trouble walking then maybe tone it down a bit.
you are definitely over doing it you need to give your muscles time to heal you could do irreversible damage to them
If you feel this is too much for you at this time, cut your time back… and when you feel ready, add more time gradually!
If you can barely walk, you are overdoing it. Listen to your body. If you are sore the next day, you need to drink loads of water and recoup. Continue doing what you are doing but lessen the intensity significantly, and then build up slowly. You should feel good after excersing.
It depends on how much the not being able to walk lasts. If its about 30 sec to a min it may be because you’re not cooling down properly.
Your body gets into a rythum while working out and if you go from walking quickly to just trotting off the treadmill this will cause a sensation of not being able to walk for a little bit.
Try slowing down 0.5 mph at a time 1 min for each segment and see if it goes away.
Those thigh slimming workouts is what is causing you to barely walk. It is simply your muscles breaking down. They will heal and be stronger, and more lean.
After I do a leg workout, I like the feeling of a challenge to walk. Lets me know I achieved a good workout.
If you’ve gone from zero to 2.5 miles every other day, you are probably overdoing it, but as far as I’m concerned, no pain ~ no gain ~ so try to walk that little bit everyday until the walks quit hurting… they eventually will, unless you have other health issues beside lack of exercise. They you can up the miles when you can tolerate more. Just don’t stop because you will digress right back to square one and you’ll be in pain all over again!!! Keep up the good work!
Sometimes when I have a strenuous workout, I can have sore muscles for the next two or even three days. However, that is okay. That is part of the process. The muscles are strengthening. However, I work out a different muscle group so that I leave time for healing. I do weightlifting with Back and Biceps on Monday, Triceps, Chest, and Shoulders on Wed., and Legs and Abs on Friday. I do my cardio sesion after the weight session– and sometimes I am sore. I have a personal trainer who is studying to be a sports physical therapist someday. I am making progress, and I am confident that it is okay to be barely able to walk sometimes for the next couple of days– especially if you tried a new exercise that was more strenuous.
However, that being said, maybe you are using weights that are too heavy. Go to a local gym and talk with a trainer there about your routine. Get some expert advice from someone who trains others for a living.
hey…
you could be over doing… it’s normal and refers to low fitness and you need to keep training(as long as it’s muscular problem)
but if you had cardiac or respiratory trouble after exercising, you would need to have some tests…because it would be so not normal…
